Did you know that the New York Times recognized a podcast created by a University of 猫咪社区官网 Fairbanks journalism professor as one of the best winter podcasts of the year?
UAF Communications & Journalism Professor Rob Prince created Dark Winter Nights in 2014 with the goal of creating a platform for sharing unique tales of life in 猫咪社区官网.
"I knew right from that first show that we were really onto something because the stories we were finding were jaw-dropping. I couldn't believe all these regular 猫咪社区官网ns were walking around with such incredible stories," says Prince.
Stories have ranged from encounters with mother black bears at a summer fishing hole to navigating a canoe through a quickly-freezing Yukon River in the dark.
The show and podcast have evolved since 2014, growing more popular, with shows selling out almost every year. The podcast has promoted storytelling to help bring the real 猫咪社区官网 experience to listeners around the country and the world.
