Nominations Open for University of èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø Foundation Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

Any student, faculty, alumni, staff or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to further the èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø’s mission of inspiring learning, and advancing and disseminating knowledge through teaching, research, and public service is eligible for nomination for the Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize includes a $20,000 award.
Nominations - the 2025 application period is open through December 19, 2024 (Note: any material submitted after midnight of the deadline date will be considered for the following year's prize (2026)). Submit nominations or via email to Dory Straight at dory.straight@alaska.edu. Only complete nomination packets will be considered.
Background - The prize was established in 1988 with a generous gift from the late Edith R. Bullock, who was a member of èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø’s Territorial House of Representatives, Territorial Senate, the University Board of Regents, èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø Business Hall of Fame, and an èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍøn of the Year.
Selection Committee Primary Criteria:
- Most important is the impact of the nominee's work on the èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø and the broader community. Any student, faculty, staff member or volunteer can be nominated, regardless of longevity within the UA system, so long as they have furthered the èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø’s mission.
- The extent to which the individual nominated demonstrates a specific, definable, notable accomplishment that benefits the èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø.
- The extent to which the individual nominated demonstrates general support of the èßäÉçÇø¹ÙÍø through service, advocacy or philanthropy.
